The Australian database entry deserves a caveat: an MA 15+ listing filed through the automated IARC system appears in the national classification database, but PlayStation Australia still marks the game "unclassified," and every comparable Rockstar title landed at R18+. Treat that entry as a placeholder until the board publishes a proper decision.

Taiwan: the rating that's blocking pre-orders
Taiwan is the one market where the rating question has real consequences today. Parents guide: what's actually in it
Going only by Rockstar's own published material — two trailers, the screenshots, and the August 27 Extended Look — here's what the M rating covers. GTA 6 is an adult crime story, and the official footage already shows:
- Violence and gunplay: armed robbery, shootouts, and car chases are the core of the game. The protagonists, Jason and Lucia, are criminals; Lucia is introduced in prison attire.
- Sexual content and partial nudity: official footage includes strip-club and nightlife scenes, twerking, and heavily sexualized social-media culture as satire.
- Strong language: trailer dialogue includes profanity throughout.
- Drugs and alcohol: bar scenes and drug-trade storylines appear in official material.
The expected full ESRB descriptor set — Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Sexual Content, Strong Language, Use of Drugs and Alcohol — matches GTA 5's, but the final GTA 6 certificate hasn't been published. reported Practically: this is a 17+/18+ game by every board's standard, consoles' parental controls can block it by rating, and there is no content filter or "teen mode" in any GTA.
